Over here in Seattle spring has started to arrive. Flowers are beginning to bloom, the sun is peaking out and our Requester website has been refreshed!
We wanted to improve the look and feel of the Requester Website so that we could provide more helpful content about Mechanical Turk that showcases how business are using the marketplace to clean their data, categorize items, create and moderate content or get business feedback.
As you’ll see we’ve updated the navigation, created a homepage for Developers and added more information on how to use Mechanical Turk through use cases and case studies. We are also highlighting the robust ecosystem of Applications and Solution Providers who are building useful tools on top of the Mechanical Turk API. Go check it out!

In addition to the Requester website refresh we have also released a few feature improvements – details below.
- New Worker statistics (Web UI only)
See 7-day and 30-day performance statistics in addition to lifetime data on Workers so that Requesters can identify which Workers are currently performing well or poorly against past performance. - HIT & Qualification Search improvements
More easily find the HITs you want to work on and the Qualifications you need. - Bonus Reasons update
Workers will now receive a copy of the Bonus Reason when they receive a bonus. - API Improvements
We’ve modified our API to be more standards compliant.
New Worker Management Statistics (Web UI only)
We have made an improvement to the Worker Statistics available in the Web UI. You can now view approval rates for your Workers by 7 days and 30 days in addition to the Lifetime data that was previously available. These statistics are inclusive of the current day. For example if it is Tuesday February 10 at noon, you would see statistics for the current day plus statistics for the previous 6 days (i.e. Tuesday Feb10th through the previous Wednesday, February 4th).
HIT & Qualification Search Improvements
Prefix searching on HITs
You can now search for a partial term such as Cast and find results for Casting Words and Castle. This change applies to all the words in the title, the keywords and the requesters name.
Search parity on Qualification search
Qualification Search now searches across Title, Keywords and Requester name and supports prefix search.
Bonus Reasons are now shared with Workers
Requesters can optionally include a “Reason” when they grant a bonus via the API, CLT or Web UI. Previously these notes were not distributed to Workers but they will now be included in a notification e-mail that the Worker receives. If the reason is left blank nothing will be shared with the Worker.
API Improvements
We’ve modified our API to be more standards compliant. We’ve changed the way in which we URL encode signatures on outbound REST event notification requests so that it is standards compliant.
We also now support all of the standard W3C xhtml entities within FormattedContent blocks.

We hope you enjoy these updates – and are getting some spring sunshine!
